So you are an Empath.. NOW WHAT?!

Empathy.

 

It is a basic human instinct for most. We feel for the people going through struggles. We feel for the heartbroken, overworked, and mistreated. We are all empaths to a degree.

 

But there are some that walk this earth that are born with a natural sensitivity that allows them to take on the energy, feelings, and emotions of others and not even be aware of it.

 

Not knowing this sensitivity can leave one feeling drained, exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, and depleted. This sensitivity can feel more like a curse than a gift and that is why I created My Empowered Empath Course

 

I went most of my life taking on the energy and emotions of others and labeling it my own.

 

I felt the intense of emotions of others peoples anger, heartbreak, and grief.

 

I would deal with energetic overwhelm in busy, congested places and then need days to recuperate.

So... You now have realized you are en empath... NOW WHAT?!

 

In this blog post, I am going to give you the 3 things that you should start implementing into your life that will allow you take control of your natural sensitivity and make it your superpower.

 

Ready? Let's go!


1. Ground & Protect

So let's break down ground & protect. 

 

GROUNDING is to connect to the earths energy. In the fast paced world we live in, I truly believe that all of us deal with the side effects of not being grounded. 

Some signs that can indicate being ungrounded are:

  • Hard time focusing/scatter-brained
  • Have a hard time finishing a task
  • Anxiety like symptoms
  • Feelings of detachment/alone
  • Daydreaming/hard time holding a conversation 

Here are some ways you can ground your energy:

  • Envision roots coming from the bottom of your feet and making their way down to the center of the earth. 
  • GO OUTSIDE! Hug a tree, walk barefoot in the yard.
  • Eat more things that come from nature. Leafy greens and root veggies are great from a sense of grounding.

OKAY, Now let's talk protection.

We put a seatbelt on when we get in the car.

We lock our doors at night.

We look both ways when crossing the street.

All of these are common ways we protect our physical bodies.

But what about our energetic bodies?

 

As empaths, we are extremely sensitive to energies, people, and surroundings. That is why it's important to protect our energy. 

 

Protecting your energy is easy and just like grounding can be done with the power of your intention and visualization. 

TO PROTECT YOU ENERGY:

Visualize a golden light hitting the top of your head and making it's way down your whole body until it forms a bubble of protection around you. If you want, you can also call upon Archangel Michael to protect you in his white and gold shining light.

2. CLEAR YOUR ENERGY

Now that you know how to properly ground and protect your energy, let's learn how to CLEAR your energy. Everything in this universe is made up of energy. From the table you sit at, to you, your dog, to the tree outside. As we go about are days, we are constantly picking up energy that is not ours. Sometimes it can be negative, stagnant energy that can bring our vibration down and leave us feeling gross. 

 

There are many ways you can clear your energy but I am going to share with you my two favorites.

The first is smudging. Smudging is an ancient ritual that has been used for thousands of years that clears and purifies the energy around us as well as own auric fields. 

 

HOW DO I SMUDGE? I like to smudge once a week after I do the deep cleaning of my house. I start at the front door and make my way through each house focusing on the corners of the rooms. Some people like to incorporate a prayer while doing this but remember your intention is the biggest piece to all of this. If you hold a strong intention to rid any negative, stagnant energy from your home - than you will get rid of it.

 

The next way to clear your energy is taking sea salt baths. Sea Salt is a natural and spiritual detoxifier that clears away any residual or negative energy in your auric field. You don't need to get fancy expensive sea salt (unless you want to.) Sea Salt or Himalayan Pink Salt from your local supermarket will totally do the trick. To enhance the overall experience, add some of your favorite essential oils and crystals to the bath and don't shower afterward (you want the sea salt to sit on your skin and work its magic.)


3) CREATE BOUNDARIES

It might be self explanatory but boundaries as an Empath is absolute necessity in order to live a balanced, happy life. As natural born healers, we tend to give A LOT but have a hard time receiving. This create a massive imbalance in energy. 

Many empaths have a hard time saying 'no' which can result in people taking advantage of them, energy depletion, narcissistic abuse, and lack of self worth or empathy for yourself.

Start implementing boundaries in all areas of your life.

 

A good exercise for this is grabbing your journal or a pen and paper and making three columns -

Label them RELATIONSHIPS, WORK, PERSONAL LIFE.

and ask yourself "what type of boundary can I create in this area that will make my life and well being BETTER?

 

If you have to go through each and every relationship - do it. The more clear you are - the better. Boundaries are not put in place is shut people out, walls do that. Boundaries are created in order to bring both benefit and protection to you.
